Bright Now Dental in Fort Collins Colorado, did you ever hear the old saying, “mess with the bull and you get the horns?” Well you are messing with my identity and it’s time to let the world know what happens over there.
That’s right I said my identity . . . and as it looks from over here, it was your screw up and you are trying to blame it as identity theft on to somebody else, who is probably as clueless to the who thing as I was . . . until I saw my credit report.
Okay, okay, I know I’m getting ahead of myself here so let’s back track a bit. I got a notice that something of negative consequence was placed on my credit report. Now I have been a victim of identity theft before so I ordered a copy right away. It came in the mail and that’s when all of the fun started for real.
That’s right, somebody had put me in for collections on an unpaid bill. I immediately called the collections company and asked what the deal was. They asked my name, searched their records, nothing. Asked my SSN, searched their records, bingo, under another name!
I asked them what I needed to do to fix the issue.
The guys was actually very cool and accommodating. He told me that I needed to contact the company that reported the debt and how to reach them.
So I called of this large dental company in Plano Texas and told that that I had been the victim of identity theft. The were very understanding and willing to help. They search by my name and found nothing in their records. They search by social security number and had a hit, again, under another name. The office manager offered to call the collections company and square it away, she would call me back.
She called me back about an hour later and told me that she was sorry (I believed her) but she couldn’t do anything about it. Seems that the bill came from a Fort Collins office, Bight Now Dental. She suggested that I give them a call and was sure that they would be willing to help with something that was obviously not my issue.
I called Bright Now Dental IN Fort Collins Colorado and was told I would have to speak with the office manager. The receptionist understood how important it was and would have her call me by end of day . . .didn’t happen.
I called back the next morning, reminded her who I was. She appolgised and assured me that the office manager would call within a half hour. After checking and rechecking my phone number I thank her and hung up.
Five hours later I called back. The receptionist had said she must have had the wrong number. I asked her which number she had given the office manager and her response was that she could get her now.
At this point, the collections agency did not have my name and SSN, just the SSN associated with another name. The main office in Texas just had my SSN associated with another name. The receptionist in Bright Now Dental in Fort Collins Colorado had another name associated with my SSN. The office manager got on the phone and admitted that two names were associated with my SSN, another male and my wife.
I ran the whole thing down to her and asked for her help (her name was Michelle by the way). Through this whole ordeal, she was the first person who had no interest in helping me at all. She absolutely refused to do ANYTHING!! She said I would have to call the police and report the identity theft and would do something when the law said she needed to.
So here is the kicker, the unpaid bill came from 2007. My wife went there once (without me) in 2007. I told the lady that the whole thing just seemed ”wrong” to me, it didn’t add up, too many coincidences. Again, she could care less.
A couple of hours later it just really started to bug me, nothing made sense. It started to feel like Bight Now Dental in Fort Collins Colorado made a mistake rather than it being identity theft.
I called back and spoke to Michelle, the office manager. She told me she had thought of that and checked too, but their records were right.
BUT
Her story changed on a number of points, the biggest being this, she now said that their records show the SSN being tied to my name and no other male. What?? Even when I called these people my name was not in their system. It had not been in any of the systems. She also said that the people in question came in before my wife. I’m not buying it Michelle from Bright Now Dental in Fort Collins Colorado!
So, this is where it get’s real good. I ask her for the address of the people using my SSN (and now supposedly name), she gives me the address. I couldn’t believe it, she already knew they weren’t me and she gave me their address. Can anybody say HIPPA? Since she was suddenly so helpful I thought I’d keep asking.
“What’s the phone number they used?” BLAM, she tells me!!
“What was the patients name?” BLAMMO!! She tells me!
Holy smokes, I couldn’t believe it!
What the heck I say to myself and went for the Coup de Grâce . . .
“Can you pull the records for me?”
Her answer? “They are in storage because it was so long ago, but I can request them and have them in in 10 days for you.”
Again, time and time again I have told her that this person/people are not me and I have NO affiliation what-so-ever with them, yet shes handing out their confidential data like it’s candy on Halloween!
During my first phone call with Michelle from Bright Now Dental in Fort Collins Colorado, I must admit I got a little upset because she refused to do anything to help, and she really did refuse. I told her that I would post the information on the Internet and let the world know, her response was a simple “fine, you do that.”
So that’s why we are here, oh, and this page WILL rank in the search engines, it’s what I do for a living. I know that I’ll get this all squared away but ti’s a shame it’s all come down to this, really. It would have been so easy for her to fix but she choose not to. So for me, the real interesting piece to watch will be what happens to Michelle and Bright Now Dental in Fort Collins Colorado.
